Matthew Trent Garrettson

Matthew “Matt” Trent Garrettson, 46 of Westlake passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 13, 2015. He was born on March 15, 1969 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Danny Garretson and Peggy Whitmire Abshire. Matt was a good friend to everyone he knew. He enjoyed life and loved fast cars, photography, guns and reading and loved his family very much..

Matt is survived by his father Danny (Mona) Garrettson, his step-father, David Abshire, his brothers Todd Garrettson and Gavin (Michelle) Abshire, his sister, Sabrina Abshire, his nephews, Brennan Garrettson and David Abshire, his nieces, Leah Abshire, Joy Abshire , Emma Garrettson and Reese Garrettson, also many close friends.

Matt was preceded in death by his mother Peggy Whitmire Abshire and grandmother Alice McClellan.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 5:00pm – 9:00pm at Hixson Funeral Home in Westlake. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Sunday, October 18, 2015 from 8:00am till 10:00am. A Funeral Service Celebrating Matt’s life will immediately follow visitation at 10:00am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Westlake.
