Ollie Victoria McGuire

Ollie Victoria McGuire, 99, of Westlake, LA passed away peacefully on December 11, 2016. She was born in 1917 in Westlake, LA to the late Augustus and Odeal (Granger) Koonce. In 1935 Ollie married the love of her life, Vernon McGuire Sr., and together they had 42 years of love and laughter.

Ollie loved to quilt by hand and everyone in her family was gifted with a handmade quilt and pillow that was made with love. She loved to cook and every Sunday welcomed her family around her table to eat and share stories. Jams, Jellies and preserves were made and canned from the gifts in her garden. She had a great love of family and welcomed each new member with all the love in her heart.

Ollie is predeceased by her husband; Vernon McGuire Sr., daughter; Sylvia Faye Elks, daughter-in-laws; Mary McGuire and Charlotte McGuire and three brothers; Jesse, August and Robert Koonce, and sister; Nora Granger.

Ollie is survived by her sons; Vernon McGuire Jr., Oliver McGuire and Richard Lloyd McGuire and wife Glenda, son-in-law; David (Donna) Elks, grandchildren; Tonya (David) Goss, Ed (Sherri) McGuire, Tammy (Bill) Beagley, Carla (Chris) Myer, David (Carol) Elks, Denise McGuire, Richard (Yvonne) McGuire, great grandchildren; Megan, Emily, Lauren, Seven, Jorryn, Brennan, Brooke, Brock, Trent, Bayleigh and Jacob, special family friends; Sherry McGuire, Linda Dowies and Dixie Lawson and many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered with love and laughter by all who knew her. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at Landmark for the care of Ms. Ollie.

Visitation to be held Friday, December 16, 2016 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm resuming Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 9:00 am until Funeral Service at 10:00 am at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake.
