Ruth M. Bozeman, 90, passed away peacefully at 11:55 PM, Friday, August 22, 2014. Born on Christmas Eve in 1923 in Pleasant Hill, LA, to Sam and Emma Miles. She graduated from Pleasant Hill High School, Northwestern State University and attended McNeese State University taking night classes in Library Science. She had a life-long love of reading and was known in Westlake as the "Library Lady". She retired as Branch Librarian for the Calcasieu Parish Public Library in Westlake with over 26 years of service. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Westlake since 1952 and a devoted member of her Sunday School Class whom she loved dearly.
She was a member of the Autumn Leaves Club and loved going to the Senior Center in Westlake. She also enjoyed cooking Sunday dinner for her family each week.
She is survived by her children Bridget Ware Stroderd of Westlake, LA and Richard Daniel Bozeman (Betty) of Westlake, LA; 3 Grandchildren: Angela Ware of Los Angeles, CA; Wendy Jordan (Jason) of Westlake, LA; Cindy Elliott (Jeff) of Humble, TX; and 3 Great Grandchildren: Sebastian Ramirez and Ashley Elliott of Humble, TX, and Jaydon Jordan of Westlake, LA; 1 Sister: Evelyn Luck of Rowlett, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years Francis Asbury Bozeman; her parents, Sam and Emma Miles; and sister, Gloria Temple.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, August 25 in the Hixson's Funeral Chapel in Westlake, LA. Graveside services will be at 3:00 PM at Springridge Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, LA. Visitation is from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Sunday and from 8:00 AM until the start of the service Monday at Hixson's. Words of comfort may be expressed to the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
