Willie Franklin Metcalf was born on November 22, 1935, and on February 23, 2026, at 7:20 p.m., at the age of 90, Willie (Bill) Metcalf went home to be with Jesus. He was surely welcomed by his beloved bride, Nellwyn (Nell) of over 66 years, their son Carl, his parents, and the many loved ones who had gone before him.
He retired from Conoco Pipeline after many dedicated years of service. A gifted “jack of all trades”, he loved “piddling“ in his shop and could build or fix just about anything. His hands were rarely still, and his work was a reflection of his patience, skill, and quiet determination.
He was a proud veteran, having served in the Army, stationed in Aberdeen, Maryland, and Pueblo, Colorado and also served in the National Guard. He was patriotic and carried that love for his country throughout his life.
After retiring from Conoco, he and his wife embraced every opportunity for road trips and extended travel. Whether it was an Alaskan cruise, a trip across the country with friends, or time spent exploring with their children and grandchildren, they simply loved to go. The destination mattered far less than the joy of being together.
He loved his family deeply-his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren-and was immensely proud of each and every one of them. Though quiet and gentle in spirit, he was a God-fearing man with a dry, witty sense of humor that those closest to him were blessed to experience.
A traditional, old-fashioned man in the very best sense, he was always ready to lend a hand—whether someone asked for help or not. His strength, integrity, and steady presence will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters; Sadone Buller and husband Mike, Stacey Buller and husband Kent; grandchildren; Tyler Arnold and wife Margaret, Austin Arnold, Lacey Buller and fiancé, David Lohr, Kaleb Buller and Jace Buller and fiancé, Elisabeth McGrath; great grandchildren; Willie and Amelia Arnold.
