Joy P. Mossbruger, 79, of Westlake, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Cleveland to the late William and Margaret Gorie, Joy lived a life rooted in faith, family, and unconditional love.
She shared many cherished years with her beloved husband, Robert Mossbruger, who preceded her in death on December 31, 2019. Together they built a beautiful life centered on devotion and family. Joy is survived by her children William (Charlene); Robert (Colleen) and their children Ryan and Sharon; John (Maureen) and their children Dylan, Alexander and Hailey; Christina Yarian (Timothy) and their children Katrina, DeeAnna, Tracy, Trisha, Aidyn and Timothy; Michael (Jamela) and their son Emry; Joseph (Lara) and their children Noah and Emma. She was also an adored great-grandmother to Kinsley, Jensen, and Xavier. Joy’s family was the center of her life and she leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and devotion as nothing lit up her face more than her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She followed their lives closely, celebrated their accomplishments, and wrapped each of them in steady encouragement and unconditional love.
She was the dear sister of Robert Stinson (Kathy) and the late William Gorie (Martha) and Dee Hendzel (Ronald). Joy was a loving aunt and a loyal friend to many, always ready with a warm smile, kind words, and a listening heart.
A devout Catholic, Joy’s faith guided every part of her life. As a faithful member of St. Ladislas Church in Westlake, she found strength in prayer and comfort in her church community. Her nurturing spirit, gentle wisdom, and ability to see the good in everyone made her a source of light to all who knew her.
Joy found happiness working on puzzles with family, tending to her garden, and playing bridge with friends when she wasn’t painting a rental property. She especially loved being a “snowbird,” spending winters in Florida, where she could soak up the sunshine and warmth she so dearly enjoyed.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Ladislas Church, 2345 Bassett Rd., Westlake, OH 44145. She will be laid to rest with her beloved Robert at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brook Park, Ohio.
Joy’s life was a beautiful reflection of love, faith, and quiet strength. Her gentle heart, steady presence, and unwavering devotion to her family will be profoundly missed, but the example she set and the love she gave so freely will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
