Mary was born in Cleveland to the late Joseph and Teresa (Betonte) Moenich, and from the very beginning, she brought warmth and light to those around her. She was the beloved and devoted wife of 27 years to Martin J. Devring, whose life was forever enriched by her love. She was a proud and loving mother to Ronnie (Alicia), and a cherished sister to the late Joseph Moenich (Theresa). Mary’s love extended far beyond her immediate family—she was a deeply adored aunt, great-aunt, and a loyal and caring friend to many.
To know Mary was to know kindness, generosity, and joy. She had a remarkable way of making everyone feel welcome, often through her incredible cooking and the countless gatherings she so lovingly planned. Her home was a place of laughter, comfort, and togetherness. Christmas held a special place in her heart, and she poured her love into every decoration and every moment spent with family.
Mary was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State football, rarely missing a game and always cheering with enthusiasm. She brought that same passion and dedication into her work as the former Executive Director of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party, where she served with commitment and pride.
Her faith was a guiding force in her life. A devout Catholic and longtime member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Mary lived her beliefs through her actions—always thoughtful, always compassionate, always putting others before herself.
In her quiet moments, Mary found joy in creating beautiful handmade jewelry, the proceeds of which she generously donated to The House of Champions in Cleveland. It was just one of the many ways she gave back, never seeking recognition, only hoping to help others.
Mary’s life was a testament to love—love for her family, her friends, her community, and her faith. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched with her kindness and grace.
