Nestor Maisonet A quiet hero passed away on January 18, the day after his 46th birthday. Nestor Maisonet leaves behind his beloved and devoted wife Carrie Maisonet (nee Paponetti) and his most loving and devoted daughter Alyssa. He is a brother to Nancy, Fernando, and Anita Bandy (Sam). His parents, Ana Serrano and Fernando preceded him in death. Nestor is a cherished uncle to a host of nephews and nieces, he is a son-in-law, brother-in-law, nephew, cousin, to family and friend to many that will deeply miss his wit and sense of humor.
A soft spoken man, Nestor proved his patriotism by joining the Ohio Army National Guard in 1995 where he became a military police officer. After his honorable discharge in July of 2001, he joined the Ohio Air National Guard in October 2001 in response to the attacks on 9/11. He served our Country with distinction in Operation Enduring Freedom. He left the Air Guard to help take care of his ailing mother.
Continuing his life of commitment to public service, Nestor became a Regional Transit Authority police officer and served on the FBI Drug Task Force.
Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin said “Heroes represent the best of ourselves, respecting that we are human beings. A hero can be anyone from Gandhi to your classroom teacher, anyone who can show courage when faced with a problem. A hero is someone who is willing to help others in his or her best capacity.” This was Nestor Maisonet. Visitation Thursday January 23, 2020, 4 - 8pm at Holick Craciun Funeral Home 23040 Center Ridge Rd. Westlake Oh. Funeral Mass Friday at 10am at St. Ladislas Catholic Church 2345 Bassett Rd. Westlake. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
