Ventura, CA
It is with deep sadness and heartbreak that we announce the passing of Barbara “Sue” Beller on May 24, 2023 at the age of 86. Sue passed away peacefully at Community Memorial Hospital”s Comfort Care Unit surrounded by her family, after a 10 day battle with pneumonia, brought on by complications of her ongoing battle with dementia.
Sue was born on December 16, 1936 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Whitsett and Mary Katherine Ingram. She received her Associate in Arts Degree from Christian College in Missouri in 1957. Sue married Floyd Beller, the love of her life on November 30, 1963. A year later, they would welcome their daughter, Tara into the world. Shortly thereafter, they left for California, never looking back, to build an incredible life together. Sue enjoyed taking spontaneous weekend road trips all over the Southwestern United States with Floyd.
Sue is survived by her brother David Ingram, daughter Tara Franckowiak (son-in-law John), grandchildren Shawna, Shannon, Justin, and great grandchildren Jace and Jocelyn. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Floyd Beller.
Sue wore many hats throughout her lifetime. She was incredibly creative, and would literally have dozens of projects going on at once. Sue was a seamstress, having designed her daughter’s wedding gown. She was a carpenter, and it was not uncommon for the neighbors to stop by to borrow some of her many power tools. She planned and designed the finishing touches on her homes in Wrightwood, and Lake Havasu. Sue also did some incredibly beautiful Native American beading. She loved to venture out to different thrift stores in search of her next project.
To those who knew her best, Barbara was known as “Sue”, or simply “grandma”; perhaps the title she relished most. Her family, especially her grandchildren, have taken great comfort reminiscing over their wonderful childhood memories of spending time at “Grandma’s House”.
A private graveside service will be held at Ivy Lawn Cemetery on Monday, June 19th, at 2:00 pm.
