We moved to Westchester, California in 1950. Berniece was a busy mom sewing many of her three girls clothes even their doll clothes. She always put her family first and her children knew they were loved and secure. She would have special birthday parties for us, slumber parties, took us to church every week and was a brownie leader. She was and example to her children teaching us good morals and values, truthfulness, commitment, perseverance and hard work.
In 1979, our dad, Roger, became totally incapacitated due to a brain aneurysm. Mom took care of him at home by herself for over 6 years. What an example she showed of love, commitment, perseverance and hard work. She lived the vow she made – “till death do us part.” In 1987 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary! They were married 52 years before Dad went to be with the Lord, on Jan 21, 1990.
Mom showed her family how to be happy and make the best of life’s difficulties, She was unselfish and a generous woman. Around 1964 Berniece went to work at Broadway Dept. store as a sales clerk and then went to work at Security Pacific Bank as a teller until 1976. Berniece was involved with the Senior Citizens group at a church in Santa Paula where she liked to play cards, she was asked to join the Ebell Club in Santa Paula. Around June 1991, she started dating Cecil DeMoulin, they enjoyed spending time together – Especially watching the Lakers and “coaching them”. They married June 8th 2000. Cecil went home to be with the Lord July 31, 2003. In January 2005 she moved to Redlands, California, and then a few years later she moved to Loma Linda. She loved her new home in Loma Linda and met some wonderful people there that loved the Lord also. She loved her family, her country, our soldiers, Fox News, going out to eat, esp., the Olive Garden.
