She is survived by her husband Kevin, her daughters Alyssa and Madison, her parents (Jay and Karen Smith), and her brother Tracy.
She was diagnosed with Breast cancer in 2017. She fought and won, and was cancer free for 2 years. Though cancer free she continued
to fight the side effects of the treatment.
More recently she started to fight metastatic Breast cancer. Breast cancer that spreads to other parts of the body, it had moved to her
lungs. After fierce fight, fighting to the end, she amazed her doctors, who stated that they never have seen such determination, no one has
ever survived such conditions utilizing only her strong will to live. So, till the end she was a cancer survivor, though it took her from us she
never let it kill her spirit or her soul.
Donna was the jewel of the community, volunteering to lead faith-based Mother of
Preschoolers (MOPS) programs at churches in the Conejo Valley. Additionally, she was a fixture at her daughter’s school, Hillcrest Christian
School, giving thousands of hours keeping their Information Technology needs in check.
She was born in Redondo Beach at South Bay Hospital on March 28, 1965, after which her parents re-located to Henry, Nebraska
taking with them their young daughter and son.
Throughout her childhood she showed a strong dedication to Christ, participating and achieving awards in Awana Club.
She graduated Morrill High School in 1983 before moving back to California keeping lifelong friend Holly from her high school days.
She adored her family and spent as much time as she could with every one of them, whether close family or distant family.
She had several jobs, Construction Flag Girl, Butchers Assistant, Post Office Worker (where she collected another lifelong friend,
Lisa.) After trying many different jobs she became a commercial telephone switch programmer for the U.S. Air Force in Los Angeles where
she met her husband Kevin, starting their 27 year romance. They got married on December 4th, 1999, later having two daughters in 2003
and 2005.
She traveled the world with family and friends making it to almost all of her dream destinations, only missing a few, such as Iceland
and Africa. She traveled a lot in the last 3 years with family, spending time in the Mediterranean and Eastern Asia.
Donnas’ life ling journey was to give her daughters the gift of a strong belief in Christ. As well as share that gift wish every person she
met.
A funeral service for Donna will be held Friday, April 4, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Godspeak Calvary Chapel Thousand
Oaks, 320 Via Las Brisas, Thousand Oaks, CA 91320.
Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Memorial
Park, Mortuary & Crematory, 5600 Lindero Canyon Rd, Westlake Village, CA 91362. A reception to follow at the Wheelock residence
From Kevin: Donna, you were my friend, lover and mother to my wonderful children, Alyssa and Madison. Donna, you are finally at
peace, no panic attacks, shortness of breath, foot or back pain, bathing in the love of Jesus.
