

Memorial Service will be held at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Mortuary in Westlake Village CA on November 10, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Rev. Father O’Sullivan of Sacred Heart Church in Oxnard officiating.
Doris was born in Providence, RI to Dr. Arthur CW Bowen and Ethel Brown (Thornton) Bowen on January 18, 1918. She is a direct descendant of many of the original founders of the state of Rhode Island. She is a direct descendant of over 20 American Revolution Soldiers. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Doris is preceded in death by her Husband of 52 years, Charles Leo McGovern, her Son Brian Paul McGovern and her Granddaughter, Natalie Ann McGovern. She is the Mother of 11 Children, 8 sons, Michael, Robert, Brian (deceased), Stephen, Jonathan, Christopher, Gerald and Daniel. She is the Mother of Three Daughters, Carolyn, Diane and Sheila. She is survived by her 17 grandchildren and 19 Great Grand Children and 2 Great-Great Granddaughters. Additionally she leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews living in Rhode Island, Connecticut & Massachusetts.
In lieu of Flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Mary Health of the Sick 2929 Theresa Drive, Newbury Park, CA. The family wished to extend their gratitude to the Sister Servants of Mary and the Entire Staff at the Convalescent Hospital for the over 11 years of loving care they provided to our Mother/Grammy/Friend.
