

Ed was born to Anne and Ted Yerkey Jan. 12, 1937 in McKeesport, Pa., graduated from Penn State University, moved to California in 1964, and to Westlake Village in 1969.
He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Fort McNair in Washington D.C. He was in the Army's Ceremonial Unit and Escort to the President, and later received the prestigious honor of being a guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. While in the military, Ed sang in Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C., before President Eisenhower. He met the love of his life, Marilyn, in 1987, and they have been together ever since. Ed was a vibrant member of the Westlakers where he served as president in 2006. For nearly 40 years Ed was active in real estate, and was founder and president of Landtec Development. He was a member of the Conejo Valley Ski Club for many years and an active and beloved member of the Westlake Yacht Club where he served on the Board of Directors and volunteered actively.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife and soul mate of almost 23 years, Marilyn; his mother, Anne Yerkey; son, Brian Berce and wife Jeni, son, Ryan Yerkey and wife Evie, and son, Todd Yerkey; his wonderful grandsons, Brandon and Austin Berce, and Tyler Yerkey; his brothers-in-law, Preston Shafkin and Earl Shafkin, as well as his extended family at the Westlakers and Westlake Yacht Club.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 18 at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Memorial Park, 5600 Lindero Canyon, Westlake Village, CA 91362. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 19 at St. Jude's Catholic Church at 32032 Lindero Canyon, Westlake Village, CA 91361, followed by a military burial at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks.
A reception will be held after the burial at Westlake Yacht Club, 32123 W. Lindero Canyon, Westlake Village, CA 91361. Donations can be made to the American Lung Association in memory of Ed: www.lungusa.org/donate.
