Genaro was born on September 19, 1934 in Tucson, Arizona, to Fernando and Dolores Figueroa, but lived most of his life in Southern California. He graduated from Garfield High in East L.A. in 1952 and was a sheet metal engineer for almost 50 years. He worked for 25 years at Accurate Engineering and for 18 years at Computer Metal Products from which he retired in 2011. Among his many accomplishments, Genaro was a professional musician, playing drums in several country-rock bands, served as a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the Drifters Car Club. He enjoyed several hobbies including coin collecting, woodworking, and he was a movie aficionado.
Genaro was a devoted husband and father. He will be greatly missed by countless relatives, friends, and associates. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Lucia; son, Gene Figueroa (wife LaRay); daughters, Barbara Williams (husband Frank), Brenda Montelongo (husband Jorge), Lisa Figueroa, and Marlene Nabte (husband Alvaro); grandchildren, Diana, Adam, Bridget, Corinna, Alex, Christian, and Luci; great grandchildren Desiree, Natasya, Kaylee and Sara; and brother, Gilbert Figueroa.
