

Jack was born April 25, 1933, in Mississippi.
Jack’s childhood was spent in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he attended Isidore Newman prep school. He used to play trombone and march in Mardi Gras parades.
In 1954, he graduated summa cum laude from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) with a master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
During his freshman year, 1951, he was one of the first students to be admitted into newly created M.I.T. Lincoln Laboratory researching and developing an air defense system that could detect, identify, and ultimately intercept air threats.
After graduating ,he moved to Santa Monica in 1955, where he met his beautiful wife, Betty Jean Wimberley (deceased) and they married in 1960. Jack and Betty had three children, Mark Wimberley (deceased), John Wimberley, and Diane Wimberley.
He was the engineering manager at System Development Cooperation (SDC) overseeing the Semi-Automatic Ground Environment (SAGE) system that directed and controlled the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).
Jack moved to Sunset Mesa in 1966 and became the Mesa’s first HOA president. Jack was a long time President of the Malibu Republican Club. Jack became a Democrat in 2008.
And he was also active in helping Proposition 13 pass through Legislation.
He was a proud grandfather to two grandsons, Matthew Wimberley and Charles Wimberley. He also loved his two daughters-in-law, Resina Wimberley (Mark) and Jargal Wimberley (John).
Jack was car an enthusiast, world traveler, fine diner, and enjoyed cruising around the world. Jack was the best father that one could wish for.
The memorial service will be at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffen Memorial Park on June 30th between 1:00 to 4:00 P.M.
