JoAnn Birg

Jo Ann Grieb Birg, 88, passed away on March 13, 2024. She was a beloved member of the Thousand Oaks community for over 60 years. Hailing from Kansas City, Missouri Jo Ann moved to California with dreams of warmer weather after graduating cum laude from Saint Mary College with a BA in Sociology. Shortly after moving to sunny California, she joined the Los Angeles Higher Ups social club where her life changed after leaving her watch with the handsome stranger with whom she danced with at a St. Patrick’s Day party. She would later marry that handsome stranger, Joe, and they would go on to have 5 children and 7 grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Joe, son Johnny (granddaughter Jillian), son Jeff (his wife Mary, grandson Wyatt, & granddaughter Danielle), son Danny (his wife Samantha, granddaughter Olivia, & grandson Owen), daughter Nancy (her husband Greg, grandson J.J. & granddaughter Nicolett), and daughter Julie (her husband Don).

She loved nothing more than her family and God, as she was a devout Catholic and member of St. Paschal’s Catholic Church for over 50 years. She was known for being her kids and grandchildren's biggest cheerleader; on the sidelines of every sports game. In her final moments, she wanted those around her to know she lived a happy life and accomplished her dreams. She was loved by everyone around her and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her funeral will be held April 12th at 10:30am at St. Paschal’s Catholic Church and celebration of life to follow at her son’s family home in Thousand Oaks.
