Marie Catherine (Schauwecker) Paul

It is with great sorrow that we share the news of the passing of Marie Catherine Paul (maiden name Montell) on May 3, 2024, in Thousand Oaks, CA at the age of 93. Born in New Straitsville, Ohio, she moved to California in the early 1960’s with then-husband Kurt Schauwecker. Marie was a joy to all she knew. She was a devoted congregant at St. Pascals Catholic church for many years. She was a snappy dresser and really enjoyed her work for Nahas and Ross department stores in T.O. where she even sold clothes to movie stars! She loved gardening and flowers (especially roses), reading, dancing and was a terrific singer in her day. Not only was she a loving mother and grandmother, but also a culinary maestro, renowned for her incredible cooking and baking skills. Her delicious creations brought warmth and joy to countless gatherings. Marie's unwavering love for her family and friends was a testament to her beautiful soul. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love will forever remain in our hearts.

Marie is survived by her three loving sons – Joe (Kathy), Eric (Sheri) and Tom Schauwecker, daughter-in-law Tracy Schauwecker and grandchildren Melanie Schauwecker, Tara (Robert) Black, Johanna Schauwecker, Rebecca (Jake) Edwards, Natalie Schauwecker, and Trevor (Megan) Schauwecker, her brother Joe (Jackie) Montell, along with many nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Don Paul, ex-husband Kurt Schauwecker, two twin sons – Danny and Dana Schauwecker, as well as her other siblings.
