Born and raised in Los Angeles, Richard was the son of Ellis and Hannah, both of whom preceded him in death.
Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, uncle, and friend who took great pride in his family and all they accomplished. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with those he loved.
Richard married the love of his life, Marilyn, barefoot on the beach in Laguna Niguel in 1977. Together, they built a partnership defined by love, connection, and shared experiences. They spent several years living in Mexico City, where they formed deep and lasting friendships. Over the years, they traveled the world together with their family, while making their home in Malibu, where they raised their daughters, Allison and Caitlyn.
In addition to his love of travel, Richard enjoyed a wide range of activities and had a competitive spirit. He was an avid poker player who participated in the World Series of Poker, and he also enjoyed tennis, golf, and skiing.
Richard had a lifelong entrepreneurial spirit and a gift for building businesses. As a teenager, he founded Sunshine Floral, which grew into a successful company with locations across the country before he sold it. His career took him from producing rock and roll concerts in Hawaii to launching ventures in Mexico City, and later to co-founding Bermudez and Associates Advertising, which became the largest independent Hispanic-focused advertising agency in the nation. He went on to found Media Resources International (MRI), where he served as CEO. Most recently, he and Marilyn, along with their partners, were founders of Regency Salon Studios—an enduring reflection of his vision, partnership, and passion for building something meaningful.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn; his daughters, Allison and Caitlyn, and their spouses, Keith and Stefan; his cherished grandchildren, Landon and Charlotte; his brother, Barry; and many extended family and close friends who will continue to carry his memory forward.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his warmth, generosity, and the lasting impact he had on everyone who knew him.
A private service honoring his memory will be held by the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Richard’s memory with a donation to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research: https://give.michaeljfox.org/campaign/667335/donate
