Born July 17, 1962 in Northridge, California to John and Anne Christie, Robert was a man who loved life and his craft as a Hairstylist. More important, Rob loved people and people loved him. It did not matter if you were family, friend, or an acquaintance; you knew you were in the presence of someone special when Rob gave you his beautiful greeting with a wave, smile, or hug.
Rob lived and worked in West Los Angeles and Santa Monica where he learned his craft 20 years ago at the original Vidal Sassoon Academy. His passion as a hairstylist could be seen in not only the beautiful results of his craft and customers, but more important in the discipline he brought to styling by encouraging and helping co-workers, assistants, and salon owners to be as passionate and disciplined in their craft and industry.
One common theme for Rob was the sanctity of his friends and family. A special thanks to Rob’s friends, Helen Simanowitz, Karen Clark, Lynne Larson, Beverly Shapiro, Laura Ballesty, and Todd Robinson who helped and loved Rob throughout the years and were there for Rob the last several weeks of his life. Rob and his family are eternally grateful to Dr. Sean Fischer and the nurses and staff at St. John’s Health Center, Oncology Floor, who always gave Rob hope and encouragement to fight his cancer.
Rob loved his family and was a huge part of the love that was permeated by his mother, Anne, and father, John Sr., who preceded Rob in death. Rob is survived by his sister, Valerie Gates; brothers, John Jr. and Stephen and their wives, Charlene and Pam Christie; his nieces and nephews, Jenny and Danny Bennett, Chrissy and Kevin Crawford, Cathy and Chris Dickson, James and Breana Christie, Kevin, Travis, and Emma Christie, Daniel and Charlie Baker, and Kyle and Jessica Bilharz; and his grand-nieces and nephews, Ruby Bennett, Brooklyn Crawford, Reed Christie, and Charley Dickson.
His family will always cherish the love, passion, and family values that Rob shared with his family.
Funeral Services will be held at Saint Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church on Friday, September 14th at 11am. The Family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in Robert Christie’s name be made to the American Cancer Society.
