

With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Sheila J. Ellington, who left this world peacefully on April 18, 2025, with her beloved husband by her side. Sheila was a beacon of kindness, wisdom, and grace, touching the lives of everyone she met with her warmth, strength, and unwavering compassion.
Sheila was born on January 23, 1939 in Gardner, MA. She graduated in 1960 from the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing, beginning a dedicated and meaningful career in healthcare. Over the years, she served as a nurse at Ventura County Medical Center, Ventura Community Hospital, Westlake Hospital, and Encino Tarzana Medical Center, where she was deeply respected for her skill, compassion, and commitment to patient care.
Beyond her professional life, Sheila found her greatest joy in making cherished memories with family and friends. She loved baking and cooking with her grandchildren, filling her home with the comforting smells of homemade meals and laughter. Sheila also enjoyed watching sports as a family, cheering on their favorite teams and turning game days into beloved traditions. Some of her fondest moments were spent camping in Yosemite and sailing, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the warmth of those she loved. Her passion for gardening brought beauty and peace into her daily life. She took pride in tending to her roses, plants, and citrus trees, often sharing them with others. Whether outdoors, in the kitchen, or gathered around the TV, Sheila’s presence made every moment feel joyful and full of love.
Sheila is survived by her loving husband, John Ellington Sr.; her four children, Joe (Tami) Huggan, Jennifer Huggan, Linda (Allen) Rich, and John (Erin) Ellington Jr. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Tyler (Juliet) Huggan, Alex Huggan, Savanna (Warren) Hurst, Riley Ellington, Mia Ellington, Jocelyn Gonzalez, Carmen Mendoza, and Dyllan Gonzalez. She was preceded in death by her parents, Angus and Gertrude Poules of Gardner, Massachusetts.
A funeral service will be held on June 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Pierce Brothers, 5600 Lindero Canyon Road, Westlake Village, CA 91362, followed by a reception.
Though she may be gone from our sight, the light of Sheila J. Ellington lives on in the hearts of those she touched. Her legacy of love, care, and kindness will never fade.
