Tobias Christopher McThomas

Tobias is survived by his mother (Irene McThomas), his father (Joel McThomas), and his brother (Christopher McThomas).

Tobias love for his brother, his mother and the Lord was great. It was through this love that God gave him the challenge to teach. It is through Tobias’s difficult life’s challenges, mental health and substance abuse, that he was able to accomplish this. His mother and brother were his students in which they learned by walking the road of having to deal with mental health. From this, they were able to share their knowledge with others and help other families seek recovery for their loved ones. Not all teachers teach alike. But a great teacher motivates their students to go forth and make a difference in this world for the betterment of others. Tobias unknowingly was doing the Lord’s work.

Normally you would not think of Tobias in a positive light. But it is not for us to judge but for the Lord. Tobias, though all of the trials he had to endure, mental illness and substance abuse, he remained strong in his love for the Lord. As the Lord uses us to make a difference in others. Tobias did just this. He lived his life in God’s light doing His will.

Tobias’s brother Christopher was especially dear to him. He delighted in Christopher’s company, especially when they were able to be in the same residential facility. They prayed together along with their mother for strength. The life challenge of mental illness is one that is lonely and difficult. Tobias knew that Christopher has great strength, and he would be able to help their mother through this difficult time. Both Christopher and Tobias were given a unique gift: a strong, determined and loving mother. May God grant Tobias his desire to ease the suffering which his mother and brother must endure and give Tobias a special place in his home in heaven so Tobias can keep watch over his family.
