

William Patrick Ferguson passed away peacefully at his home in Thousand Oaks, CA. on Wednesday evening, November 28, 2012 at the age of 89. Bill was born on November 20, 1923 in El Segundo, CA. The lifelong California resident was the son of Fergus and Myrtle Ferguson. Bill graduated from Glendale High School in 1942. While there, he took an active role in the Student Congress, as a representative. He was a member of the 49er Boys Service Club, Lettermen's Club, and he also ran on the school's track team.
Always patriotic, Bill enlisted in the US Navy on February 12, 1943 and served in the Pacific theater during WW ll aboard the USS PC 588 until April 15, 1946. He made his career as a realtor until his retirement in 1994.
He married Peggy Healey March 2, 1963, and they cherished over 40 years together before her passing. They made their home in Thousand Oaks, and they shared their happiness with all that knew them. Bill was always a civic minded individual and was a Master Mason and a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints which brought him a great deal of comfort in the last years of his life.
Bill was preceeded in death by his wife Peggy, and his daughter Nancy Self. He is survived by daughters Elizabeth Austin of Indianapolis and Nora Kaven of Oklahoma City, his grandchildren, Christopher (and Laura) Self of Guthrie, Lester (and Melissa) Mitchell of Indianapolis, and Geoff Kaven of Oklahoma City; his great grandchildren Taylor and Connor Self, Luke and Mia Mitchell and Kaleb and Katelyn Kaven.
A service will be held December 6, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks, 5600 Lindero Canyon Rd, Westlake Village, CA 91362. Internment will be held December 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn in Glendale.
The family would like to recognize the the wonderful care he received from Comfort Keepers and Buena Vista Hospice. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Buena Vista Hospice or the LDS Church in Newbury Park.
