Ivan L. Johnston passed away suddenly at home in Anaheim Hills, CA on Sunday, August 22, 2021. He was born in Erie, PA on May 6, 1960, the son of Marilyn (Fitzgerald) and Ivan L Johnston, Sr. Ivan (Skip) graduated from Mercyhurst Prep in 1978 and immediately served in the US Navy, where he saw the world, serving the longest in Scotland.
Ivan was Chief Scientist at a major defense contractor, serving in the industry for over 35 years. Skip enjoyed engineering and developed sophisticated audio and electronic equipment in his spare time. He also enjoyed stints as an Ultra Light Plane pilot, Ducati Motocross racer and tinkering with his Porsches. He had a passion for jazz and Russian River Valley wine. He is survived by his wife Kristine, stepchildren Hilary and Richard Dang, sisters Darcie (Warren) Dagenbach, Michelle (John) McElhenny and Lisa (Matt) McElhenny and many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
