Ann was born on April 25, 1937, in Edgewater, NJ, the daughter of James Zoccoli Sr and Mary (Albanese) Zoccoli.
Shortly after high school, Ann married the late William L McClure, and together they started a family, living in Moonachie, NJ. Ann worked various part-time jobs for the first several years, in between the births of her 3 children, William, David and Douglas, before deciding to go into nursing. Ann attended Fairleigh Dickinson and Hackensack Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as an RN in 1970.
Ann began her long nursing career, starting in the psychiatric unit at Hackensack Hospital. Her rewarding career spanned 47 years and included employment at 4 different hospitals, 2 home-care companies, and even her own family-counseling practice. Ann retired from her most recent employer, The Valley Hospital of Ridgewood, NJ, in 2017, after a 20-year tenure.
Ann's desire to care for people extended well beyond hospital walls. Great Italian cooking ran in family, and Ann was no exception; her added love of baking was the ultimate complement. Ann loved to entertain, and many relatives and friends were in for a special treat when they visited. Ann always insisted on making something special during their visits. Holiday tables were always set with a feast and Sundays eventually ended up becoming an unofficial “brunch day”, open to relatives, friends, and neighbors alike, for nearly 2 decades.
Ann also loved to travel, taking overseas trips to Greece and Italy, as well as Florida, Aruba, and other tropical island destinations with her partner. Often, they would bring along a granddaughter or niece, as she loved helping them to discover the world.
Ann was pre-deceased by siblings Mica Pepe, Mary Muoio, James Zoccoli Jr., and Rose Berry, as well as her eldest son, William R McClure, and her beloved partner, Steven Winship. Ann’s remains will reside next to Steven’s.
Remaining to cherish memories of Ann are her sons, David and his wife Diane, Douglas and his wife Pam, Kathy McClure, wife of William, grandchildren, Kristen, Tara, Brenna, Jennifer, Sarah, and Madeline, 3 great grandchildren, Emilia, Alexander, and Aiden, many nieces and nephews, neighbors, and numerous colleagues and friends from in and out of the medical community. She will be especially missed by those who were particularly close-to and caring for her, Thomas Berry, Michele Bonastia, Laura Muoio, very special friends Sue Ellen Hampson and Dr Joseph Gartner, neighbor, Ray Yabroudy, and good friend, Matt Novack.
A short memorial service will take place on Monday, November 3rd, at 11:30 a.m., at
