Geraldine Joie Simone

August 26, 1936 – August 04, 2024

Geraldine Joie Simone made her journey to heaven on August 04, 2024. She was 87 years young. Geraldine was born in Brooklyn, NY and was the beloved second born child of John and Isabella Cassara and beloved sister of John. She attended P.S 45 Elementary School, Midland H.S. / Lafayette H.S. In her early life she worked at J.C Penny, American Express and Faemart in Brooklyn. She married Thomas Anthony Simone 1957 and together had three sons, Thomas, John and Michael becoming a wonderful homemaker. When her sons were grown she went back to work at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP as an Administrative Assistant as she had organizational skills that were admired by all.

Geraldine was extremely artistic and had a deep passion for movies. When she wasn’t painting or doing needlepoint she would be watching Turner Classic Movie channel. One of her greatest joys after completing her artwork, would be to beautifully frame them and gift them to her children and grandchildren. Another one of her hobbies was to go antiquing. Her ability to spot knickknacks, art or other memorabilia and creatively place them in her home was amazing to say the least. She fondly remembered every detail of where she found her beautiful antiquity. It didn’t matter to her whether it was from Sotheby’s auction or a little mom and pop store in a little-known town she once visited. The gift of the antique was the joy she got from explaining it and showing it to family and friends.

Geraldine had the most wonderful sense of style. She loved to shop and could always find beautiful clothing. It didn’t matter if it was Bloomingdale’s or Marshall’s, she was always elegantly dressed and everyone noticed.

Geraldine was a strong, loving and generous woman. Geraldine is survived by her sons, Thomas, John & Michael, daughters-in-law: Gracie, Lydia, Nicole, and grandchildren: Matthew, Skylar, Madison, & Johnny.

The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Friday, August 9 from 4-8PM. The Funeral Mass celebrating Geraldine's life and faith will be held at St. Anthony R.C. Church, 199 Walnut Street, Northvale, NJ on Saturday, August 10 at 10AM. Interment will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Nanuet, NY.
