Gilbert “Gil” Earl Gregory IV unexpectedly passed away on June 7, 2022. He is survived by his
wife of 57 years, Barbara; his daughter Jill Pecora and her husband, Arsenio; his son Jeff and
his wife Danila; his son Jason and his wife Dyan. He was a loving grandfather to eight
grandchildren: Isabella, Brianna, Vanessa, Mia, Miranda, Madelyn, Nathan, and Owen. He was
also a devoted dog-dad to Lucky. He is also survived by his sister, Gale (Gregory) Tierney, and
is predeceased by his parents Norma and Gilbert. Born in Teaneck, NJ, Gil resided in Demarest
and was a member of the Northern Valley High School Class of 1960.
After high school, at age 17 and unsure of his future plans, Gil enlisted in the U.S. Navy where
he served on the submarine, U.S.S. Tench. He was honorably discharged in 1966. Gil’s career
began as a lineman with New Jersey Bell and progressed through the ranks as an engineer with
Verizon. In 1965, Gil married his high school sweetheart, and he and Barbara made their home
in the Township of Washington where they have resided for over 50 years.
Gil loved the outdoors: boating on Lake Owassa, fishing, gardening, and birdwatching. In
addition, he loved coin collecting - always searching for that rare, valuable coin. He loved telling
stories to his children, grandchildren, and anyone that was a captive audience. Gil enjoyed
exploring new restaurants with Barbara and loved anything pickled. He was happiest when he
was at his cabin in Lake Owassa enjoying the peaceful environment. A devoted dad to Lucky,
he loved his nightly walks and snuggles with his furbaby.
The family will receive visitors at Becker Funeral Home on Sunday, June 12 from 1-4. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
