Henry W. Schmidt, 83 of Villas, NJ passed away on December 16, 2013. Henry was born in Newark, NJ and lived in the Township of Washington before moving to Villas, NJ in 2007. Henry proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Navy. He worked for PSE&G for 30+ years as an electrician and was a member of the IBEW Electrical Union. He was a past member of the Westwood United Methodist Church, the VFW Post 6192 in the Twp. of Washington and ex-chief of the Township of Washington Fire Department. He is predeceased by his brothers, Fred and Charles Schmidt and is survived by his daughters, Linda L. Schmidt and Laura Thomas and her husband Patrick; his son, Lawrence Schmidt; his sisters, Florence Menzler, Mary Palasciano, Dolores Bartlett, Marge Corkery and Katherince Schmidt; his brothers, Edward, Albert, John, Raymond Schmidt and Joseph Hockey; his grandchildren, Shawn, Kelly and Kevin as well as many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday 4-8pm at the Becker Funeral Home with a funeral service at 7:30pm. Cremation will be private.
