Devoted husband of 32 years to Judith Farrell (nee Smith) and doting father to Kelly and Colleen. Loving brother to Maureen (Robert) Baumann, Una (Tom) Werner, Gerard Farrell and Sean Farrell (predeceased). Born in Westwood on March 29,1966 to Gerard and Winifred Farrell (both predeceased).
He lived in Hillsdale for his entire life. James was a dedicated member of the St. John the Baptist community, previously serving on the parish Finance Council. He and his wife, Judith, along with their two children, were proud alumni of St. John’s Academy. He graduated St Joes High School and got his undergraduate degree from St. Thomas Aquinas College and his MBA from Fordham University. He was a CPA and was a Controller and VP before retiring from Cambrex Corporation. James loved traveling every summer with his family. Together they went to over 25 different cities all over the world from Honolulu to Copenhagen. He enjoyed exploring all local restaurants in Bergen County and beyond, encouraging extra appetizers and always dessert. He loved to make the most of the weekends whether that be supporting his children’s sporting games, seeing Broadway shows, hiking outside or going to a concert with close friends. He was absolutely hilarious with a witty vocabulary. He had a comeback for every joke and always left people laughing until their stomachs hurt. James had a sharp mind and a love for puzzles, completing the New York Times games daily and never missing a night of Jeopardy! He was extremely thoughtful and generous, and helpful. He was always offering a helping hand, compassionate towards others and giving advice when needed.
