

John D.Clemen, 67, of River Vale, NJ, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2012. He was born in Mineola, NY to John and Amy Clemen. John graduated from Tenafly High School in 1962 then went on to earn his BA in European History from Hobart College in 1966. He served his country proudly from 1966 to 1971 during Vietnam in the US Air Force, and was promoted to Captain in 1971. After returning home, he attended Seton Hall Law School from which he earned his law degree in 1974. During his time at Seton Hall he was an editor of the Law Review. John served as the Clerk to the Honorable Morris Pashman of the Supreme Court of NJ. He was an associate and partner at Shanley & Fisher a law firm in Morristown, NJ for 24 years with a specialty in aviation law and was admitted to practice law before the U.S. Supreme Court. John retired from Shanley & Fisher in 1999, but continued to practice law until 2005. He was an active member of the American Bar Association, the NJ State Bar Association, and the NJ Trial Lawyers Association. He belonged to the American Legion Post 153 in Park Ridge, NJ and considered himself an amateur historian. Devoted father of Elizabeth Anne Coletta and her husband Cliff, and Jennifer Clemen and her partner Linnea Carenza. Cherished grandfather of Nelina Elle Coletta. Dear Brother of Cynthia Clemen Peckham, David Clemen, and Christine Clemen Brandorff. John was married to Judith Davis for 40 years; from 1967 to 2007.
