

John Daniel Fornazor, Sr. of River Vale, previously of New Milford passed away surrounded by his precious family on December 20, 2014 at the age of 88. John was a WW II veteran assigned to the 33rd Armor Regiment under Gen. Patton. He worked for the New York Times for 40 years and retired as the general manger of the composing room. He formed many lifelong friendships during his time there. He enjoyed nature, traveling the world and making people laugh, but he treasured nothing more than loving his family. He was a friend to many, a confidant to all and always had a kind word to say. He was a beautiful soul and if you knew him, you knew it. He will be sorely missed by his family forever. John is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Helen (Cheselka) Fornazor; his children, Susan Dugan and her husband Jack and John Fornazor and his wife Peggy; his grandchildren, a true namesake Johnny and Lauren, his spirited sweetheart; his sister, Rita Concilla; his sister-in-law, Mary Zizik, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Magdalena Fornazor; special stepmother, Mildred Fornazor; and his sister, Mary Diamond. Family and friends can meet on Tuesday 9-10am at Assumption of the Holy Virgin Orthodox Church, 35 Orange Ave., Clifton, NJ 07013 for a visitation before the 10am Funeral Liturgy. The interment will follow after the mass at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ. Visiting hours will held on Monday from 3-8pm at the Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd., Westwood, NJ with a parastas service at 7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Assumption of the Holy Virgin Orthodox Church.
