

John W. Uhl, 74 of Hillsdale, NJ passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Englewood, NJ to Helen and John Uhl, he grew up in Leonia. He served 3 years in the United States Navy. He began his career in law enforcement in 1964 on the Leonia Police Department, moving to the Woodcliff Lake Police Department in 1969, where he served for 23 years. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Lois (Papay) Uhl, his sister Linda Luongo, daughter, Jodi Callahan and her husband Brian, sons Jeffrey, Jay and his wife Barbara and James and his wife Jodi. Beloved grandfather of Ryan, Connor, Thomas, Justin, Allison, Cameron, Matthew, Ashley, Zachary, Tyler & Abigail. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Morgan. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He spent his retirement years caring for his grandchildren on a daily basis. A devoted fan of them all, he rarely missed a sporting event or concert. He was an inspiration for perseverance and hard work, and instilled his love for the New York Giants in all of his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
