Joseph Conway

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Joseph (Joe) P. Conway of Orangeburg, NY, who left us peacefully on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. Devoted father to sons Joseph, wife Norma, James, wife Dina, John, wife Jacqueline and Timothy, wife Martha. Loving grandfather to Joseph, wife Eleanor, Julia, husband Eric, Thomas, wife Bianca, Emily, husband James, Alexa husband William and Christina. Proud great grandfather to Madison (Joseph and Eleanor). He is survived by his loving sister Kathleen (Marvin) and brother Patrick (Carol).

Born in New York City, he lived the majority of his life in Hillsdale, New Jersey with his wife Jane whom were blissfully married for over sixty years before her passing in 2022. While living in Hillsdale, Joe and Jane were active members of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church for over fifty years.

Joe was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and a cherished friend to many. His warm smile, quick wit and great sense of humor was evident throughout his life and will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Joe was known for his kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family, friends and faith.

His primary career was as a proud member of the NYC Fire Department where began in the South Bronx and later to Manhattan in Engine 93 as a Chief Assistant upon his retirement in 1979. Joe proudly served in the United States Navy for four years and was honorably discharged in 1956.

Joe was predeceased by his parents, Ellen and Joseph, sister Ellen and wife Jane.

Wake services will be held on Wednesday, December 4th, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ. A Mass celebrating Joe’s life and faith will be held at 10am on Thursday, December 5th, St. John the Baptist Church, 69 Valley Street, Hillsdale, NJ. The interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, 650 Saddle River Road, Airmont, NY.
