Lopez Family,
A day does not go by that I dont think of Joe. I grew up with all older sisters and when i met Joe Freshman year at summer football sessions we became friends.  During high school we had so many fun times.  i often laugh to myself as I commute to work when a song comes on the radio that reminds me of him. I have Joe's mass card in my visor  I often pound the mass card with my fist and say his name out loud.  The Lopez family was so nice to me when i would go to his house to have Mrs. Lopez' black bean soup.  My friendship with Joe has left an indelible mark on my heart and I look forward to the day that we meet again in Heaven.  2 black and tan Yuenglings are on me!

Dear Lopez Family - I had the opportunity and pleasure to work with Joe on a project at Deloitte which spanned 8 months and included significant travel in both the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and elsewhere.  During this period I was fortunate to spend a significant amount of time with Joe, who was the partner in charge of the project.  I will remember this experience for the rest of my life.  Joe was a true leader, had both a terrific sense of humor, and a personal mentor.  I extend to the Lopez family my deepest condolences on this significant loss.

I'm sorry to hear that Joe has passed away.  We were students together at Glassboro State College; I met him through my roommate who was in his fraternity.

Our college years were certainly not friendly by any means. After college however, I had several weekend outings that brought Joe and I to the same places.  It was night-and-day, as Joe and I got along very well.  “Change” requires an individual to initiate, the other to reciprocate, and both to grow.  We were both ready to grow up!

Change requires strong commitment and character - that is how I will remember Mr. Joe Lopez.

It's been two weeks and I realize I never memorialized how I felt about Joe.  Joe found a spot in his life over the last few years where he was at peace with the world   We all felt it when we bumped into him at a softball game or somewhere in town.  I'm happy that he got to this place and found his spot.  He was a great Dad, friend, and someone who made this world a more interesting place to live.  He got the most out of his 46 years on Earth and I am confident he is in heaven and is someone we can all talk to and pray to to help us out as we continue our journey. Miss you Coco.

My deepest sympathy to the Lopez family.  Joe was an extraordinary guy in so many ways.  We worked together at Deloitte in the mid 90's when he was kind enough to take me - a rookie from London - under his wing, and show me the ropes.  Many years have passed since but it is a tribute to his larger than life presence and character that, actually, it still feels like yesterday.

My sincerest Condolences and heartfelt prayers to the Lopez Family one and all. Having known Joe as a young man and for only a short while during our time playing football and attending college at GSC, I can still say that Joe was an all around good guy who's good nature left an impression on me for years to come.  He will be greatly missed.

My condolences to the Lopez family. Joe and I were friends at SJV. I moved there in my Junior year from Cincinnati Ohio and had the pleasure of having Joe as a friend. Eventhough we went to school and played football together my greatest memory was the first time he and a bunch of us from SJV got together at my house our freshman year of college. Well after a while we got to talking about where I was from and somehow the conversation went onto COW TIPPING. None of the guys except me had ever done it. So of course we had too. Fortunate for us at the end of my street was a Black Agnus cow farm so we went. Joe and I picked out this Cow and went for it, I hit near the front legs Joe the back. Well there was a second cow behind the first, so of course they never fell but of course woke up very UPSET. The one chased me into a lake an the other chased Joe back over the fence. Cows are faster than you think... We went back to my place and the next day my mother just looked at us all sleeping in the living room,the 85 white castle cheese burger boxes later and wet clothes. Didn't even blink and eye closed the door on us. To this day I laugh every time I pass that field thinking of me in the water and watching Joe jumping that fence.. RIP my friend you will be missed.

My heart felt condolences to Joe's family. I graduated from SJV wth him in 1984 and we were always friends throughout high school.  I would see Joe from time to time taking the train from Matan but lost touch over the years as often happens when life obligations get in the way.  I heard over the years that he was a partner in a firm and I was happy for him.  I knew he worked hard to get there and had earned it.  Take care my friend,  I'll see you when I see you and we can catch up over a cold one.

I awoke to this news first thing this morning and am profoundly saddened by it.  Joe and I never went to school together, as he was a few years younger than I am.  But we are brothers in a fraternity, and we became friends after I had graduated.  Joe was one of the kindest, funniest, and charismatic people I have ever met and I am proud to remember him as a brother and friend.  I had lost touch with Joe over the years, but I always hoped that he would pop up one day at out annual fraternity Thanksgiving dinner.  This saddens me even more........ Now I wish that I had made the effort to find him sooner.  Even though it had been a number of years since I'd seen him, I know that if I did....... we would have picked up right where we left of, as if the years were only days.  I wish I still had that opportunity to hoist one more beer with him.  Joe touched every soul that was lucky enough to know him...... and he will be missed by all.  My heartfelt condolences go out to his family at this sad time.  I have read many comments from friends and colleagues here.  As I suspected, all express admiration, respect, and love for him. I just found out about Joe and I am so very sorry for your loss.

I've spent this Fathers Day morning reading all of the notes that were left for you. Notes from friends going back to 1st grade @ St. Joe's.... through SJV and Glassboro and finally D&T.  That so many people have reached out and their memories span so many years, says a lot about your son.

While there is not much I can add to what has already been said, I will tell you this... Joey left a huge imprint on everyone he knew!  The very first image that popped into my head after reading Joe's passing was of him in Lancer's Black & Gold, covered in dirt, with that very easy smile he had. Then I watched the video scrapbook that was posted and there it was…. that big grin of his!

I pray that God's grace and healing surround your entire family.  I pray that God has opened his arms and welcomed Joe home.  Joey will be missed.

I knew Joe in HS at St. John Vianney and he was always a positive and engaging person that you could share ideas with at any time. Our sympathy to his entire family.

Truly sorry for the tremendous loss of Joe. I grew up playing sports aginst Joe ( Our schools St. Benedict's & St. Joes were heated rivals.) This is back in the 70's when sports were played hard and tough every play...
Once I got to know Joe in High School it didn't take but a few seconds to realize how cool he was.  Joe had a presence and bravado that stood out immediately.  During Freshman Football it was obvious he was one of our leaders--through his toughness and mature level of confidence.  He took over a room with his charisma and wide smile at all times.  
He loved to be sarcastic and bust chops and was always cracking jokes--he could take it as well as dish it; Always with his wide smile.  
The first thing I thought about when hearing of Joe's passing was Joe's competitive nature and how he could defeat you with a smile on his face...a quality taught to me by Joe.

Joe was a great partner, a good friend and he will be missed by the entire Deloitte family.  While I am in Hong Kong and will not be able to attend I thought I would share a brief extract from my cousin's eulogy who also was taken unexpectedly at 40 which helped me during this difficult time.  Joe was ALL IN in life, family and at Deloitte.

"So when you think about it, God blesses us with a life on this earth as long as we agree to sign His contract. The contract guarantees that God will surround each of us with a loving family, warm and wonderful friendships and many interesting people. We will love and be loved. We will cherish and be
cherished. We will teach and be taught many things about ourselves and the world around us. However, we must be willing to sign God's contract with the full knowledge that God will take the people has surrounded us with back at some point. We are not told who, we are not told when. We are
given no clues. Some of us have known Joe his whole life. Some have known him from grade school or high school. Some have known him since college, his career at Deloitte or some for a few years. Regardless of the length of time, given the blessing by God to know him at all, wouldn't you jump at the opportunity to sign God's contract?
Let's face it, you would¦because you know Joe would be ALL IN!!!"

Joe was the first Partner I worked with at Deloitte.  He was tough and demanding, but treated everyone fairly and equally regardless of his/her level at Deloitte.  He worked hard and played even harder. Always with that big smile on his face. He had a huge influence on my career and I can honestly say I may not be where I am today had it not been for him.  His loss is tragic and way too early.  My heart goes out his family. To the Lopez family, I have worked with Joe for over 20 years and he will be sorely missed. He was a larger-than-life guy with a personality to match, bringing laughter wherever he went. I could always count on him to have a great story whenever I ran into him and that I will truly miss. He so loved his daughters and was so very proud of them both. My thoughts and prayers are with you all as we struggle to come to terms with someone taken so young.
