

Joseph Rendina, 84, of River Vale, NJ passed away on September 4, 2015. Born in Paterson, NJ, Joseph lived in Maywood prior to moving to River Vale in 2002. Joseph proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Joseph owned and operated the 3rd Avenue Coffee Shop in Paterson, NJ for 25 + years and then worked for the Passaic Valley Water Commission in Wanaque, NJ. He was a member of the River Vale Friendship Club and the Old Tappan Seniors. His nickname was “Sportsy” and was an avid golfer and Detroit Tigers fan. He always had a smile, a great sense of humor and was loved by everyone. He is survived by his beloved wife Teresa “Terri” (Battaglia) Rendina; his sons, William Heller and his wife Rosemary and Jerry Heller and his wife Anne; his brother, Felix Rendina and his wife Elaine; his granddaughters, Patti Roh, Lynn Schwalje, Kristen May, Tracy Sullivan, Lauren Bertha and Reagan Heller; 7 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved cat “Josie”. Funeral from the Becker Funeral Home on Wednesday 9am with a 10am funeral mass at St. Pius X Church, Old Tappan, NJ. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Paterson, NJ. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the funeral home.
