

Leonard Kenneth Berlinghieri passed away, surrounded by his family, on November 17, 2023. Ken is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathy Anne (Audino), his five children, Sr. Peter Marie (née Karen) Berlinghieri, lsp, Jennifer (Richard) Minicus, Mary (Jean) Willi, Sarah (Thomas) Krawczyk, and Joseph Berlinghieri, his three grandchildren, Max, Rocco, and Lucia, his sister, Gail Frances Berlinghieri and his brother, Joel Carl Berlinghieri.
The son of Joseph and Rose (DeMarco) Berlinghieri, Ken was born in the North End of Boston on November 15, 1939. He spent his early years in Boston, until, at the age of 15, he moved with his family to North Salem, NH. He was valedictorian of his graduating class at Woodbury High School in Salem, NH, earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY and earned his Masters in Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ.
Ken and Kathy met at the Newman Club at New York University and were married on September 7, 1963. They began married life in Kathy’s hometown of Hackensack and later moved to River Vale. Ken worked as a systems analyst for over fifty years and when he retired from Siemens in 2012, he was the oldest employee at the company. An avid gardener, Ken was often seen by neighbors working in the family vegetable garden and yard. He could fix anything and always had just the right tool or part for the job.
A lifelong, devout Catholic, Ken was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society. He often served as sacristan and altar server at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Harrington Park, NJ. He and his wife volunteered with the Little Sisters of the Poor, the congregation of which his daughter, Karen, is a member. When his son, Joseph, joined Boy Scout Troop 335 in River Vale, Ken became an active leader, serving as both Scoutmaster and Committee Chair. Ken was a member of the River Vale Board of Education for fourteen years, serving as Board President for ten years. He was a member of the River Vale Zoning Board of Adjustment for seven years, serving as Board Chairman for five years.
The family will receive their relatives and friends on Friday, November 24, 2023, from 3-7pm at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd, Westwood, NJ 07675. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 10am at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church, 150 Harriot Avenue, Harrington Park, NJ 07640.
