Marie Castrovillari

Passed away on May 10th, 2026. Marie was born in Emerson, NJ on August the 11th 1930 to Catherine and Dominic Brescia. She was predeceased by her beloved husband John, as well as her three brothers Joseph, Anthony & Rocco, and is survived by her brother Dominick. Devoted mother of John & wife Barbara, Cheryl Mattera & husband Frank, Robin Woods, Joe & wife Allison and Kathryn Michelle. Blessed with 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren who adore her.

Marie attended Westwood High School and graduated in 1948. She & John wed in 1950 and were married for 37 years. At the young age of 64, Marie attended college classes at Bergen Community College.

Marie worked at two iconic local restaurants, Nola’s and Fricke’s Old Hook Inn as a Waitress for many years, where everybody knew her name and called her “Happy Days” or “Aunt Marie”. Later in her career she worked as an Office Administrator for Bergen County Probation Department and Child Support Division, where she retired in 2003. She later worked part time at T.J. Maxx in Westwood, NJ until the age of 89.

Marie was an active member of the Church of the Assumption and a Rosarian for many years. She proudly served in the Emerson Fire Ladies Auxiliary for over 60 years.

Marie's greatest joys were her family and her love for the town of Emerson where she born and lived her entire life. Marie will be loved and missed by many as she was a beautiful person to all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made in her name to the American Heart Association @ heart.org/donate.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 13th, 2026 from 3-8PM at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd., Westwood, NJ. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 14th at R.C. Church of the Assumption in Emerson, NJ at 10AM with interment at Westwood Cemetery in Westwood, NJ to follow.
