

KARCICH, Marijan "Mario" L., 77, Born in Jersey City and raised in West New York, NJ, having raised his family in Hillsdale NJ and retired to his dream home in Bethel NY, passed peacefully on Monday, June 9th as he hoped and dreamed, in the spot he shared with his wife and family in his later years.
Mario is survived by his devoted children, Scott and his wife Julie, his loyal dog Ambre, his loving sister Jaqueline Walker, his niece CinDee Giannotti and his three grand nephews Mikey Giannotti, Jesse Giannotti, and JT Giannotti. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Daphne and cherished son Timothy.
A career law enforcement professional with the West New York Police Department for 30 years, Mario retired having risen to the position of Deputy Chief. Mario founded and owned Command Radio Communications Inc., was a past 4 time Master of Fulton-Friendship Lodge #102 in Park Ridge NJ, and past President of the New Jersey DX Association (NJDXA). A passionate and lifelong Amateur Radio operator for over 63 years, Mario—known by his call sign K2ZD—was especially known for his love of 6-meter operations.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd., Westwood, NJ, on Friday, June 13, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Church in Hillsdale, NJ, on Saturday, June 14 at 10:30 a.m.
