Mary Ann Middleton

MARY ANN MIDDLETON (Lenz), age 80, of Edgewater, NJ passed away on Monday September 8th. She was born on October 18, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of Joseph A. Lenz and Dorothy E. Schiller Lenz. Her parents reared Mary Ann and her sister Carol on Chislett Street in the Morningside section of Pittsburgh. Mary Ann graduated from St. Raphael's High School in 1951. She attended Margaret Morrison Carnegie College--now Carnegie Mellon University--from which she graduated in 1954. Mary Ann married Robert Middleton in 1957. They reared their son, Gary, in Glenshaw, just outside Pittsburgh. Robert died in 1981 and Mary Ann continued to reside in Glenshaw until 1995, when she moved to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. She then lived in Devon, Pennsylvania with her sister Carol and brother-in-law John Boyd until moving to Edgewater, New Jersey in 2007 to be nearer her son and his partner, Matthew Cullen. After twenty years as an educational sales representative for her brother-in-law's firm, John S. Boyd Associates, Mary Ann retired. She took great joy in reuniting frequently with her high school girlfriends, who named themselves "The Red Riders." Mary Ann is survived by her son Gary; her sister Carol Boyd; her nieces and nephews Heather, Brad, Dean, Tom, Beth, Marco, Dave, and Bill; and a wide circle of friends. Friends will be received at Becker Funeral Home, on Friday, September 12th, from 4-8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday 10am at the funeral home. A committal service will be held on Monday 2:45pm at Allegheny County Memorial Park, 1600 Duncan Ave, Allison Park, PA.
