Peggy Lynn Mockler, age 68, of Hillsdale, died on Sunday, August 10, 2014. Peggy Lynn was the beloved wife of John Mockler. Devoted mother of Sean Mockler, devoted mother and mother-in-law of Meredith Mockler and Robert Workman, Jr. and Ryan and Maria Mockler. Loving grandmother of Justin Meyer, Jack Hillman, and John Mockler. Much-loved daughter of the late John and Patricia Greenip. Dearly loved sister and sister-in-law of Pam and Ken Hoogerhyde, Peggy Mockler, and Ann Sullivan. Beloved aunt of Sara and Eric White and family and Brandon Hoogerhyde. Peggy Lynn grew up in New Milford, NJ and graduated from New Milford High School.
Peggy Lynn graduated from Montclair State College with a degree in Art Education. She taught art at the Roy W. Brown Middle School in Bergenfield, NJ. Peggy Lynn retired from teaching to raise her family. She returned to teaching art at St. John’s Academy in Westwood, NJ and Assumption School in Emerson, NJ.
Peggy Lynn was an active member of the Hillsdale community as Co-President of the Meadowbrook M.F.F.A., Co-President of the Pascack Valley High School PTO. Peggy Lynn was a co-founder of Hillsdale’s Saturday School Program. She was also a member of the Hillsdale Garden Club.
Peggy Lynn was thirty-eight year member of the Twin’s Mothers Club. She served as President of the Twin’s Mothers Club of Bergen County and Past President of the New Jersey Association of Twin’s Mothers Clubs. Peggy Lynn served as President of the Garden State Mothers of Multiples. In recognition for all her countless hours on behalf of multiple birth families, especially those in Bergen County, Peggy Lynn was named Member of the Year.
Peggy Lynn was a proud member of Blue Star Mothers of America Chapter Three in recognition of her daughter Meredith, a 2nd Class Petty Officer in the United States Navy.
Peggy Lynn will be missed by her family and friends. Peggy Lynn was always willing to give of her time to worthy causes and to help her family and friends. Peggy Lynn had an infectious smile, a wonderful sense of humor, and never missed an opportunity to play Trivial Pursuit.
Peggy Lynn’s was devoted to her three grandchildren, Justin, Jack, and John. She took pleasure in spending time with them, often visiting her grandson Jack in California and Virginia. Peggy Lynn especially enjoyed being able to walk around the corner in her neighborhood to be with her grandson John. Peggy Lynn was fond of visits from her grandson Justin.
Visiting will be at Becker Funeral Home in Westwood, NJ on Wednesday, August 13 from 2-4 and 7-9; Thursday, August 14 from 3-7. The funeral is on Friday, August 15 at 10:00 at Becker Funeral Home. Internment is at George Washington Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New Jersey Association of Twin’s Mothers Clubs at NJATMC.org or Blue Star Mothers at Bluestarmothers.org.
