

Richard Oscar Carmichael was born in Guyana on July 22, 1951. He migrated to the United States in 1970. He was the third child of Edna and Oscar Carmichael. Richard passed away on February 20, 2015, at Villa Marie Claire Hospice Facility, Saddle River, New Jersey. He was a long time resident of Hillsdale NJ, and resided in Sussex, NJ.
Richard progressed through the ranks at Chemical Bank and retired from Bank of America as Senior Vice President of Global Treasury Services in 2006. Upon retirement, Richard together with his wife and brother, Patrick, started Optima Performance Consulting Business, doing business with professionals, small business and financial institutions. Richard was particularly proud about the work that he did with Neil Cerbone Associates.
Richard had his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), in Banking & Finance, and he was a graduate of Harvard Business school Advanced Management Program.
Richard loved to travel and was an ardent sports fan, and particularly loved football. For years he coached the Youth Football in Hillsdale NJ. He was an avid reader and a lover of history.
Richard was very family oriented and was passionate about teaching. He took an interest in the education and career of all his nieces and nephews.
Richard is survived by his wife Patricia, son Marc Eliot and his daughter-in-law Courtney, his brothers Edward, Patrick (Janet), and Linden; his sisters Yvonne Shepherd (Henry), Jennifer Brown (Dave); his nephews Marc, Nigel, Shaun; his nieces Paige, Yonette, Gayle, Faith, and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Richard touched many people in his life and will be missed both by his friends and professional colleagues. The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Fuenral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Friday, February 27 from 10:00AM-12:30PM. The service celebrating Richard's life will begin at 12:30PM. The family has asked in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Richard Carmichael to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center at www.giving.mskcc.org, or directly to the family.
