

Richard J Hall, 84, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on January 7, 2025. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 62 years, Rose, his four children, Sharon Midgett and husband Mike, Sean Hall and his wife Anne, Colleen Barton and her husband Bruce, and Maureen Hall. Loving grandfather to six grandchildren, Sean (Kate) and Christopher Hall, Patrick (Erin) and Brian (Alison) Boyhan, and Grace and Elise Barton. Loving great-grandfather to three great-grandchildren Olivia and Hudson Boyhan and Leo Hall. Loving Uncle to nieces Kelly Ammiano and Kathleen Rankin and predeceased by his nephew John Hall. Brother-in-law to Florence Hall and predeceased by his brother Robert P Hall.
Richard was born on February 12, 1940 in Jersey City, NJ. After graduating St. Aloysius High School, he proudly served in the United States Navy as a gunners-mate in the Fox Division on the USS Corry Destroyer. Richard and Rose married in 1962 and moved from Jersey City to Westwood, NJ in 1969 where they raised their four children. Richard worked in dispatch and sales for various trucking companies over the years; eventually working for 30+ years at Trans American Trucking Service, where he retired as regional sales manager.
Richard enjoyed cooking, working out at the gym early every morning, cycling, hunting trips in Vermont with friends, sailing with Rose on their sailboat on the Hudson River, John Wayne and WWII films, singing along to his favorite 1940’s songs, traveling to Cayman Islands, Maine, California, and many other destinations with his wife Rose, and spending summer vacations in LBI with his family and grandchildren. Those who knew him will always remember his quick wit, great humor, and always having a good joke to share.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday, January12, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at 12:15 p.m. at the funeral home.
Our family would like to express our gratitude to the nurses, aides, and staff of the Visiting Health Services of NJ for their compassionate, support, and comfort they provided to both our father and family.
