Robert J. Flanagan, Sr.(Pop), 91, of Norwood, NJ formerly of New Milford, NJ and also NYC, passed on December 9, 2011. Robert was born in NYC to Joseph and Lillian(Fox) Flanagan. Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth(McDermott) Flanagan who passed in 1986. Adored father of the late Maureen V. Von Ohlen, wife of Thomas, who passed in 2007, also predeceased by his brother Walter who passed in 1975. Robert is survived by his two sons Robert Jr. and his wife Leanne of Fair Lawn, and Brian and his wife Kathleen of New Milford. Beloved grandfather of Thomas and his wife Lily Von Ohlen, Colleen and her husband Stephen Sailer, Elizabeth and her husband Tad Von Johnson, Brandon and his wife Christine Flanagan, Kelly and her husband Edward Foley, Devon and his wife Jessica Flanagan, Taryn and her husband John Cassese, and Mary Von Ohlen(Davie Cedala). Beloved great grandfather of 16. Good friend of Carole Martin. Uncle of Della Tamulis and Barry Flanagan. Robert worked for the Archdiocese of Newark for over 35 years. He was a WWII veteran seeing action in France and Germany, and a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal.
