Harrington Park – Rolf H. Hoerauf a 44 year resident of Harrington Park passed away on Thursday, Oct 18. He was born Aug. 7, 1944 in Detmold Germany and immigrated to the US in 1952 moving to Ridgewood, NJ. He graduated from Ridgewood High School in 1963 and attended Valparaiso University. He later joined the Navy and was stationed on a river minesweeper in Vietnam. He became an elevator mechanic and later an elevator consultant with United Elevator Consultants and Joseph Neto and Assoc. He was a member of IBEW Local 3. Rolf was a member of the greater Consistory of the Community Church serving as an elder. He was also a past member of the Board of Trustees of Bethany Christian Services Adoption Agency. He was a two-term councilman serving as Police Commissioner and Fire Commissioner in Harrington Park where he started a vest fund for the police department, raising funds to outfit the Harrington Park police department in bullet proof vests. He was a past member of the Beautification Committee of Harrington Park and developed the first playground at Pondside Park. He was also a member of Masonic Temple Lodge #173 in Westwood NJ. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Joan (nee Juergensen) their daughter, Jennifer and her husband Shant Kouyoumdjian and their son Eric. Friends and family are welcome to join us for a Memorial Service to celebrate Rolf’s life at 11:00 AM on Saturday October 27 at The Community Church, 1 Spring St. Harrington Park, NJ.
