

Stanley “Stan” Freeman, 84 of Montvale, NJ passed away on September 28, 2014. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Stan lived in New York City and River Vale, NJ before settling in Montvale, NJ 51 years ago. Stan was a Korean War Veteran, proudly serving his country from 1952-1954. He was a principal of Ketler Elementary School and Jessie George School in the Westwood School District and he was awarded the National Teacher of the Year Award. While in Westwood, he was a baseball, basketball, football coach and athletic trainer at the high school as well as a former trainer for the Westchester Bulls, New York Islanders and the New York Giants. Stan also volunteered his time as a baseball, basketball and football coach in Hillsdale, Park Ridge and Montvale for over 65 years. He is survived by his wife Yvonne of 56 years; his children, Pamela Freeman Resch, Dawn Freeman Marshall and her husband Rick and Jim Freeman and his wife Rose; his grandchildren, Ashley Resch Shedesta and her husband Todd, Brittany Resch Vidi and her husband Mark, Colin Resch, Darri Resch, Dylan Marshall, Tyler Marshall, Kyle Marshall, Danielle Freeman, Samantha Freeman and Trent Freeman. The family is requesting anyone interested in joining the procession to please gather on Tuesday at 1:45pm at the Montvale Major League Field on Memorial Drive in Montvale for a final send off for Stan as a motorcade will process to Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd., Westwood, NJ where a celebration of his life will take place from 3-8pm with a 7pm service. The family is requesting no flowers. Please make a donation to the Tri Boro Amulance Corps, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of your choice in Stan’s memory. The family will be sitting Shiva at their residence on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
