Steve was born at Valley Hospital in Westwood, New Jersey. His parents James Ralph Doyle and Gloria Rose Pisacano lived in Westwood, NJ. From the very beginning, he loved his hometown with all his heart. His friends and family were everything to him, and they shaped the life he led. He graduated from Bergen Tech High School in Hackensack in 1983, where he studied automotive repair. However, it wasn’t long before he realized his true passion lay in woodworking. This led him to a job at Nova Interiors right after high school, where he found joy in crafting beautiful cabinetry and collaborating with designers to create unique pieces for clients.
On June 10, 1988, Steve met Ellen Mazzola Doyle through mutual friends. Ellen had 4 tickets to a Yankee baseball game. Unfortunately they had the wrong day, but that mistake led to a beautiful relationship. Exactly two years later, on June 10, 1990, they were married.
In 1995, Steve made the bold decision to move to Manahawkin, New Jersey, where he opened his own business, Malibu Kitchen and Bath. He loved his work, carefully selecting the finest woods and taking immense pride in creating pieces that felt like true art. Every project was a reflection of his passion and dedication.
In 2005, after the passing of his beloved mother-in-law, Ellen Cable Mazzola, Steve moved his family back up north to Hillsdale, New Jersey. He made sure to bring his father-in-law, Michael Mazzola, along with them. Family meant the world to Steve, and he made sure that no one was ever left behind.
Steve’s son, Steven, was his pride and joy. He cherished every moment spent with him, whether watching him play baseball, taking him to concerts to share his love for music or going on weekend “road trips.” His bond with his son was the cornerstone of his world.
In 2010, Steve’s life took an unexpected and heartbreaking turn when he was diagnosed with brain cancer. But even in the face of this unimaginable challenge, Steve’s strength and resilience shone brightly. He endured over 50 surgeries and countless complications, yet never once did he complain. His positive attitude and grace in the face of adversity were nothing short of inspiring. He never let his illness define him. If anyone asked how he was doing, his response was always the same: “Great.” He remained a warrior, a beacon of strength, always focused on what he could do, not what he couldn’t.
Above all, Steve's greatest wish was to spend time with his family and friends. He cherished those moments above everything else, constantly proving that love, family, and an unwavering attitude can move mountains, even in the toughest of times. Sometimes life doesn't go as planned, but Steve showed us that the key is to keep moving forward, with love, grace, and the courage to never give up.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Ellen Doyle (Mazzola); son, Steven James Doyle and his wife Alicia; siblings Pat Dias and her husband Larry, Michael Doyle and his wife Jean, and Ralph Doyle and his wife Teri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gloria Rose Doyle (Pisacano) and James Ralph Doyle.
