Therese, known to many as Terry, met her true love, Gene, at the age of 16 and went on to share a happily-ever-after romance that spanned more than 75 years. They moved to the Township of Washington in 1959 and were among the township’s longest continuous residents.
As a devoted grandmother, Terry was always the on-call babysitter, while also being an excellent seamstress and typist. When she wasn’t helping her family, she could often be found walking throughout the township. She embodied a life of service—reading to young children at the library, assisting ESL students and adults, packing food for the homeless, and making stuffed animals for children in local hospitals. A member of the Woman’s Club and the Red Hat Ladies, Terry enjoyed a full and active social life. She earned an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Development from Bergen Community College and proudly pursued this career even after the age of 65.
The family will receive guests at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ, on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 5:00–8:00 PM.
