After her second courageous battle with cancer, Tish Herbert passed away on December 28, 2024, surrounded by love and the enduring admiration of those who knew her.
Tish was born at West Hudson Hospital in Kearney, NJ, and grew up in New Milford, NJ. She attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School in Oradell and The Academy of the Holy Angels in Demarest, NJ. From an early age, she showed a keen eye for beauty and creativity, which blossomed into a lifelong passion for art and photography. Her artistic spirit guided her studies at the University of Dayton, where she graduated in 1979 with a major inspired by her love for capturing life’s moments through the lens. Photography remained a cherished hobby throughout her life.
Tish’s professional journey began at IBM, but her intellectual curiosity and determination soon led her to pursue a legal career. She graduated from Pace University School of Law in 1989 and spent more than 30 years practicing law in Bergen County, NJ. As a lawyer, she was known not only for her brilliance but also for her empathy and dedication to justice.
Beyond her career, Tish lived a life filled with passion and joy. She was whip-smart, endlessly curious, and deeply generous. Known for her sharp wit and infectious sense of humor, she brought light and laughter to every room she entered. An avid reader and lifelong learner, Tish loved to explore new ideas and experiences. Her passion for music could be best described with an enthusiastic mantra: " no music, no life". She found solace on the water, sailing whenever she could, and cherished her time with family and friends.
Tish is survived by her beloved sons, Daniel and David, who were her greatest pride and joy; her sister Stacey Buzzio (Marc); her brother Tony Herbert (Stacey); and her many adored nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Patricia and Charles Herbert, whose values and love she carried forward.
Tish’s unwavering loyalty, kindness, and vibrant spirit will be profoundly missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the John Theurer Cancer Center, a cause close to Tish’s heart.
Her legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
