

Valentin Tarasenko, 66, born in Caracas, Venezuela, raised in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, died suddenly on September 21 at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Laura Navarro-Tarasenko, his 3 daughters, Christina, Rita Marie, and Julianna, his son in law, Richard, his son in law to be Enrique and Asseno, and his beautiful granddaughter Natalie Laura. He was the son of Ukrainian immigrants and WW2 survivors Anatoli and Antonina Tarasenko and a loving brother to his siblings Anatoli, Tamara, Leon, and his twin brother Victor.
He graduated from Columbia University in 1980 with an MS in chemical engineering. He worked for Pfizer for over 30 years and won many awards at his time there. He was named PGS Innovation Coach of the Year in 2014, and most recently was awarded the Pfizer Lifetime Engineering Achievement Award for his accomplishments. He was integral in the manufacturing of the Covid-19 vaccine and was proud to be a part of this life-saving endeavor, the impact of which will be felt for generations to come
He was loved by all who had the pleasure of meeting him. His kind presence and warm and inviting personality were infectious. He will be sorely missed by his family and loved ones.
Viewings will be held at Becker Funeral Home in Westwood NJ.
Thursday 9/23 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM, Friday 9/24 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM. A mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Hillsdale NJ on Saturday 9/25 at 10:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Val’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
