

William H., Jr., 93, of Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, formerly of Emerson, New Jersey, passed away on November 9, 2015. Devoted father of William F. Blanchard of River Vale, New Jersey and Susan Blanchard of Tuxedo Park, New York. Bill is also survived by his brother James T. (Susan) Blanchard of Yonkers, New York and his many cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Frances Billmeyer and also by Lee Pastore, his second wife. Predeceased by his brother Robert C. and his wife Violetta, of New Jersey.
Bill was the first of 3 sons born in Yonkers, New York to William H. and Marion (Lennon) Blanchard. He graduated from PS 21 and Roosevelt High School in Yonkers and Manhattan College. In his youth Bill was an altar boy, an eagle scout, and a star athlete in school. He was proud to have pitched in Yankee Stadium. He was part of the greatest generation, a World War II Navy veteran serving in the Aleutian Islands and the South Pacific. Upon returning from the service, Bill began a 40 year career at the F.W. Woolworth Company, starting in the stock room and retiring as the executive vice president.
Bill was a proud and passionate man who loved his golf, the New York Yankees, his country, but most of all lived for his family and friends.
All are invited to call on Friday, November 13th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road in Westwood, New Jersey. A funeral mass will be celebrated at the Church of the Assumption, 29 Jefferson Avenue, Emerson, New Jersey on Saturday, November 14th at 10am. Burial will follow at Maryrest Cemetary, Mahwah, New Jersey.
