Yvonne Hanna

February 2, 1936 – January 12, 2026

Yvonne Dolores Hanna, beloved sister, mother, mother-in-law, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on February 2, 1936, in Jersey City, New Jersey. Yvonne lived a life rooted in faith, family, and unwavering love for those around her.

Yvonne’s greatest passion was her family. She was the heart of her family—always present, always supportive, and always loving. She took immense joy in attending every possible event for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to cheer them on. Her pride in them was evident to all who knew her.

A woman of deep faith, Yvonne found comfort and joy in her church community and especially loved singing in the choir. Her voice, both in song and in spirit, reflected her devotion and warmth.

Yvonne began her professional career in New York City at the Chrysler Building and later continued her work in the Meadowlands, exemplifying dedication and perseverance throughout her working life.

She is survived by her loving children: Denise Thompson and her husband Rob; Suzanne Sanger and her husband Sandy; Cynthia Hanna; Christopher Hanna and his wife Wendy; and Jeanine Spence. She was a proud grandmother to 14 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to 16 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Marie and Alfred LaBarre; her siblings, Marie Abitante, Therese Marano, Alfred LaBarre, and Rita Leichliter; and her son-in-law, John Spence.

Yvonne’s legacy lives on through the generations she loved so deeply. She will be remembered for her kindness, devotion, and the endless love she gave so freely. She will be profoundly missed and forever held in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Yvonne’s life at a wake on Friday from 4:00–8:00 p.m. at Becker Funeral Home in Westwood, NJ 07675. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River, NJ 07458.
