Amelia C. Ramunno

Amelia Ramunno (née Colangelo), 90, of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Donato Ramunno, with whom she shared nearly 70 years of marriage.

Born on May 18, 1935, in Pacentro, Italy, Amelia was the daughter of the late Dominic and Maria (née Lepore) Colangelo. She lived in Italy until the age of 12, when her family moved to Venezuela. She and Donato married in Niagara Falls and moved to Connecticut in 1955, settling in Wethersfield to raise their family. She worked for many years as an administrative assistant for the American Heart Association. She enjoyed antiquing and collecting fine art pieces. Her greatest joy and number-one priority, however, was family. She loved hosting weekly Sunday dinners and reveled in family trips to the beach. Her amazing humor and feistiness always made for spirited gatherings.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Amelia will forever be missed by her two daughters, Rosemarie and her husband, Frank Saccomandi III, and Donna and her husband, Marty LoSchiavo, all of Wethersfield; her four grandchildren, Frank and his husband, Jerry; Nicole and her husband, Kevin; Cara; and Tony and his wife, Megan; and her four cherished great-grandchildren, Lumen and Marcelline, and Sebastiano and Donato.

She is also survived by her sister, Rosina Carrabbia; her special niece, Virginia, and her husband, Jerry Siegal; and many other beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to her parents, Amelia was predeceased by her sister, Angela Lalama, and her brother, Frank Colangelo.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Hartford Hospital and hospice for their care and comfort in Amelia’s final days.
